Biography
Michael’s photographic career began shooting fashion, first for Dazed & Confused and then magazines including 10 Magazine, Amica IT, Arena, Arena Hommes Plus, Big, Details, Esquire,TheFace, New York Times, L'Optimum, L'Officiel,The Telegraph,The Times,Vogue UK and Wallpaper.
A desire to evolve photographically led Michael to complete a masters degree at the London College of Communication in 2010, and after to concentrate on still life photography, preferring the working process and more contemplative approach.
His stylistically minimal, evidence based imagery focuses on process and form before narrative. He seeks out beauty in the mundane and ordinary, finding pleasure in rendering texture and tone. He chooses to embrace the elemental and imperfect over the pristine and organised, showing the fragile aesthetic balance of human intervention.
Michael’s studio is in Whitechapel.
